Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich BWL - Investition und Finanzierung, Note: 1,7, Universität Paderborn, Veranstaltung: Spezialmodul: Taxation, Accounting, Finance, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit geht es grundsätzlich darum, die Reform des International Accounting Standards 39 (IAS 39) durch den International Financial Reporting Standards 9 (IFRS 9) näher zu beleuchten und wesentliche begriffliche Grundlagen zu vermitteln. Hierzu wird die Bilanzierung von Finanzinstrumenten nach dem „alten“ Standard IAS 39 und dem neuen Standard IFRS 9 vergleichend gegenübergestellt, um im Anschluss auf die grundlegende Kritik an den jeweiligen Standards einzugehen.

Um den Leser in die Thematik des Reformprojekts einzuführen, werden zunächst im zweiten Kapitel einige begriffliche Grundlagen zu den International Financial Reporting Standards erläutert. Zudem wird der wesentliche Aufbau des Frameworks der Rechnungslegung nach IFRS vorgestellt.

Im dritten Kapitel wird der Standard IAS 39 thematisiert, da dieser die bisherige Bilanzierung von Finanzinstrumenten nach den International Financial Reporting Standards regelt. Das Hauptaugenmerk wird auf die Klassifizierung und Bewertung finanzieller Vermögenswerte gelegt, da die erste und bislang einzige Phase des Reformprojektes IFRS 9 „Finanzinstrumente: Klassifizierung und Bewertung“ (Financial Instruments: Classification and Measurement) Ende 2009 mit ihren final veröffentlichten Regeln verabschiedet wurde. Abschließend wird der Standard IAS 39 einer kritischen Würdigung unterzogen.

Da als Reaktion auf die Finanzmarktkrise die Forderungen politischer Institutionen darin bestand, die Bilanzierung von Finanzinstrumenten nach dem IAS 39 zu vereinfachen und transparenter zu gestalten, wird im vierten Kapitel der bisherige Entwicklungsstand des dadurch entstandenen Reformprojekts IFRS 9 dargelegt.

Im fünften Kapitel wird schließlich die Bilanzierung von Finanzinstrumenten nach dem aktuellen Standard IFRS 9 vorgestellt. Das Hauptaugenmerk wird auf die wesentlichen Neuerungen der Klassifizierung und Bewertung von Finanzinstrumenten gelegt und im Anschluss einer kritischen Würdigung unterzogen. Abschließend wird ein Fazit gezogen.
