und Politiker, vor allem aber die Erzählung des einfachen Volkes, haben zum Bild
beigetragen, dass noch heute wirkt. Seit über zweihundert Jahren ist die auf dem historischen
Vorbild des Räubers Johannes Bückler aus dem Hunsrück beruhende Figur damit bereits
präsent und kann als eine der wichtigsten Gestalten der deutschsprachigen Volkserzählung
gelten. Zwar müssen wir davon ausgehen, dass seit der Gründung der Bundesrepublik mit
veränderten Feindbildern innerhalb der Gesellschaft auch der Schinderhannes mehr und mehr
verblasst. Doch kann gerade seine Rezeptionsgeschichte zeigen, dass der Mythos immer dann
neu erblühte, wenn es zur Wiederbelebung der in ihm enthaltenen Feindbilder kam, auch
wenn er einige Jahrzehnte im Winterschlaf verbracht hatte.
Die vorliegende Arbeit soll die zugrunde liegende reale Person Johannes Bücklers auf den
mythischen Gehalt untersuchen, der ihr als Schinderhannes zugesprochen wurde. Zunächst
soll also versucht werden, das, was sich vom Leben des Johannes Bückler zweifelsfrei
darstellen lässt, herauszuarbeiten.
Danach soll es darum gehen, warum der Mythos Schinderhannes überhaupt entworfen werden
konnte. Hierfür soll zunächst ein theoretisches Modell dargestellt werden, dass den Ursprung
von Sagen und Mythen erklären kann und von Dorothee Meigen erarbeitet wurde. Wenn dies
bewerkstelligt ist, sollen der Mythos Schinderhannes, seine Verbreitung und die in ihm zum
Ausdruck kommenden Motive, näher untersucht werden.
