Jedenfalls hab ich das im Fernsehen gesehen.“ Sicher war sich da aber eigentlich keiner von uns. Sind das nur Vorurteile oder ist es wirklich so? Die Boulevardpresse berichtet jedenfalls oft davon. Jugendliche, die mit sich selbst und der Welt nicht klarkommen. Mit Rasierklingen ritzen sie ihre Arme, sind depressiv und kuscheln miteinander. Manchmal hört es sich schon an wie Textstellen aus „Die Leiden des jungen Werther“ von Goethe. Immer schwarz gekleidet, schminken sich und lackieren die Fingernägel, ebenfalls alles in schwarz. Klischees über Klischees. Oder?
Wir sind 5 Personen, die eigentlich keine Ahnung hatten, was ein Emo wirklich ist. Welche Musik hören Emos? Gibt es eigentlich viele davon? Sind sie so ähnlich wie Punks, politisch links und haben immer was zu sagen. Meistens gegen alles! Oder vielleicht wie Gothics? Also so eine richtige Jugendsubkultur, von der wir einfach noch nichts mitbekommen haben. Oder sind die Emos nur eine Modeerscheinung, die nächstes Jahr jeder vergessen hat? Erfunden von H&M. Oder sind sie wie die Raver der 90er Jahre? Ein Massenphänomen. Tausende von Techno-Fans, die auf den Straßen mit Sonnenblumen und Schnuller um den Hals, tanzend die neue Generation der Jugend einleiten. Eine Generation, die ständig auf der Suche nach der endlosen Party ist. Ihr Erbe hat sich jedenfalls bis heute gehalten. Die Mode verschwand wieder.
In unserer heutigen Gesellschaft gibt es eine enorme Vielfalt in der Jugendkultur. Daher müssen wir zwischen verschiedenen Jugendsubkulturen unterscheiden. So sind einige Jugendsubkulturen schon seit langer Zeit bekannt und gehören zu unserer Gesellschaft. Skater, Fußballfans, Hip Hopper und vor allem Punks sind quasi gar nicht mehr wegzudenken. Sie prägen ihre Jugendsubkultur durch ihr Auftreten, Verhalten und Erscheinungsbild und schaffen damit die Gesamtheit der Jugendkultur.
Die Emos sind neu. Gerade in Deutschland kennt man sie erst seit ein paar Jahren. Während Emos in Mexiko schon seit Längerem bekannt sind und der Ursprung auch eigentlich schon in den 80er Jahren entstand. Es gibt eine ganze Reihe an Vorurteilen über sie und viele begegnen ihnen mit Intoleranz und Abneigung.
Diese sollen in dieser Arbeit durch ein Tiefeninterview überprüft werden.
