Geschlechterstereotype. Generell versteht man unter Stereotypen gleichbleibende
oder häufig vorkommende Muster. Bezogen auf die Dichotomie der Geschlechter ist
eine Art Schubladendenken gemeint, also Erwartungen darüber, was typisch
männlich oder typisch weiblich ist. Nach Asendorpf (2007) stellt ein
Geschlechterstereotyp „ein kulturell geprägtes Meinungssystem über Eigenarten der
beiden Geschlechter“ (S. 386) dar, welches auch unsere Wahrnehmung verändert. In
der Wissenschaft hat man zur besseren Verständlichkeit das Geschlecht in ein
biologisches (sex) und ein wie oben genanntes, kulturell geprägtes, psychologisches
(gender) unterteilt. Die Beschäftigung mit Gender meint also die Beschäftigung mit
Geschlechterrollen. Fraglich ist nun, ob es sich hierbei um tatsächlich vorhandene
Unterschiede zwischen Männern und Frauen handelt, oder aber ob wir reinen
Vorurteilen erlegen sind. Dieser Frage soll anhand von drei typischen Beispielen auf
den Grund gegangen werden.
