In den industriellen Ländern kann man sich heute nur schwer einen Haushalt ohne Computer oder einen Menschen ohne Mobiltelefon vorstellen. Damit hat man eine Möglichkeit bekommen schnell notwendige Informationen zu gewinnen, immer im Bilde interessanter Ereignisse und virtuell an mehreren Orten gleichzeitig zu sein. Produktions- und Dienstleistungsbereiche versuchen auch möglichst großen Nutzen aus der Technologisierung zu ziehen, indem man verschiedene Prozesse computerisiert und automatisiert.
Die Bankenbranche hat auch erhebliche Rationalisierungspotentiale in neuen Technologien erkannt und deswegen ihren Kunden eine Möglichkeit gegeben, verschiedene Geschäfte durch elektronische Kanäle ohne Barzahlungen und häufig ohne Involvierung von Bankmitarbeitern abzuwickeln. Diese Vorgehensweise nennt man Electronic-Banking (E-Banking).
Hauptziel dieser Arbeit ist es die Ursachen zur Entstehung des E-Banking, seine Ziele und Vorzüge darzustellen. Aus diesem Ziel wurden folgende Aufgaben abgeleitet:
• Darstellung von theoretischen Aspekten des E-Banking.
• Bestimmung seiner Vor- und Nachteile sowie das Kundenverhalten zu dieser Neuerung.
• Untersuchung der weiteren möglichen Entwicklungen des E-Banking.
Das erste Kapitel dieser Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den Einführungsumständen und Formen des E-Banking aus der theoretischen Perspektive. Im zweiten Kapitel werden wirtschaftssoziologische Sichtweisen des E-Banking dargestellt. Das dritte Kapitel befasst sich mit den Möglichkeiten der weiteren Entwicklung, die auf den Kundenbedürfnissen und auf dem Marktsättigungsniveau basieren.
Folgende Arbeit beinhaltet Angaben der Deutschen Bundesbank, des Bundesverbandes deutscher Banken, Untersuchungen und Studien der Wissenschaftler und Fachleute aus dem Bankenbereich, Informationen und Artikel aus periodischen Druckschriften und Internetdatenbanken.
