Niemand wird Robina retten können; sie ist allein in dieser unwirtlichen Kristallwelt, viele Lichtjahre von der Erde entfernt. Tiefe Verzweiflung ergreift die junge Kosmonautin, der nur ein Hoffnungsschimmer bleibt: Da ist jenes fremde Funkfeuer, dessen kalte Lumineszenz den Boliden in rhythmischem Abstand aus der Schwärze des Alls reißt.

LESEPROBE:
Robina riss sich nur schwer aus der Erinnerung. Aber sie hatte das Gefühl, dass sie hier eine Zäsur anbringen sollte, schon weil sie das, was sie da auf Band gesprochen hatte, nicht mehr übersah. Erst recht war sie sich nicht im Klaren darüber, inwieweit eine solche Geschichte geeignet sein mochte, einem Erdfremden einen Eindruck von dem Geschehen auf dem dritten Planeten des Sonnensystems zu vermitteln. Schließlich rang sie sich zu der Meinung durch: Niemand könne das wissen. Sie würde das Gesprochene eine Weile ruhen lassen, es dann überarbeiten, auf den Raster übertragen und dann in die Wand brennen - basta.
Robina machte es sich bequem und hörte sich ab. Ein Pfeifton war da - ,Rückkopplung?’
Hastig schaltete sie ab, drückte die Taste jedoch nicht gehörig durch, sodass der Nerven tötende Ton mit einer kurzen Unterbrechung abermals die Kabine durchheulte. Das gleiche Malheur passierte ihr beim zweiten Schalten. Ärgerlich setzte sie sich auf, da durchfuhr sie ein Gedanke. Sie empfand ihn so ungeheuerlich, dass ihr das Blut zu Kopfe schoss und sie ein leichter Schwindel erfasste.
Der Ton brach plötzlich ab, dann setzte nach einer Pause ihre Stimme ein, stockend, mit holprigen Formulierungen. Robina hörte nicht zu. Sie überlegte. Dann sprang sie auf, legte hastig einen neuen Tonträger ein und stellte den Kontakt her zwischen dem Aufnahmegerät und ihrem Funkempfänger.
