Dafür ist es notwendig, im 1. Teil zunächst ausführlich das Krankheitsbild der Aphasie bei Erwachsenen zu veranschaulichen, um so die Grundlagen zum Verständnis der Fragestellungen und Problematiken kindlicher Aphasie zu schaffen. Weil es sich bei Aphasie um eine Sprachstörung handelt, die durch eine Beeinträchtigung von Nervengewebe im Gehirn zustande kommt, ist es außerdem unumgänglich, Wesentliches über den Aufbau des Gehirns und über neuronale Vorgänge zu vermitteln. Im 2. Kapitel wird das Krankheitsbild der kindlichen Aphasie, das sich deutlich von dem bei Erwachsenen unterscheidet, eingehend erläutert. In der dürftig zur Verfügung stehenden Literatur ist die meist diskutierte Frage, ob Aphasien bei Kindern aufgrund des jüngeren Alters eine generell günstigere Prognose haben als Aphasien im Erwachsenenalter. Diese Frage stellt den Kernpunkt dieser Arbeit dar und wird im 3. Teil behandelt. Das 4. Kapitel beschäftigt sich mit der Diagnostik und Therapie von Aphasien bei Erwachsenen und Kindern. Am Schluss werden die wesentlichen Punkte in einem Fazit zusammengefasst.
